Alice in Wonderland quotes words to live by…

For a fanciful children’s book, the classic Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll brims to overflowing with quotes that reflect the realities, the joys and the pitfalls of life. From confused Alice to the harried rabbit and the imperious Queen, the tale is full of characters who experience the same kinds of difficult schedules, experiences and people we all must deal with on a regular basis today. Famous Alice in Wonderland Quotes help us see the situations in a rather humorous light, a mindset that leads to laughter and relaxation rather than stress.

Some of the most well-known Alice in Wonderland Quotes highlight the reality of trying to do to much with too little time. Rabbit’s famous saying, “I’m late, I’m late for a very important date” rings true with those of us who have overstuffed schedules. We worry endlessly about how time is getting away from us. Rabbit’s comment, “Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it’s getting!” is something we’ve all said hundreds of times, albeit in a different way. And if we try to relax about our schedules, we find we have time-keepers like the Mad Hatter: “No wonder you’re late. Why, this watch is exactly two days slow!” That’s why we feel so stressed!

As we struggle to keep up with our schedules, we find that there are people who get in our way with impunity. We try to do our jobs and live our lives to the best of our abilities; they make frequently unreasonable demands of us. As the Queen was a bane to Alice’s existence in Wonderland, so we meet people who vex us at every turn. The Queen demanded, “Off with her head!” Adversaries in our lives also make demands similar to that of the Queen, who said, “Now I give you fair warning, either you or your head must be off, and that in about half no time! Take your choice!” As we attempt to meet their often unfair demands, Alice in Wonderland Quotes are a fair representation of the difficulties we face.

Like Alice, we often find ourselves confused by what’s going on around us. Alice said, “It would be so nice if something made sense for a change!” We also strive to find the meaning of events in a complicated world. We are so often tempted to say on a regular basis, as Alice did, “Curiouser and curiouser!” Probably the best summary of life found in Alice in Wonderland Quotes is the Cat’s pithy statement: “We’re all mad here.” As we remember that sentiment, we would do well to find ways to employ the gems of wisdom set out by the story.

A Little about Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland..

Have you every wondered why it’s important to read to our children? I used to think it was to give them the gift of wanting to read, but I now realize that these books actually teach us those lessons of life. I’m talking about those really good children’s books that have been around for years. My mother read them to me and I happily read them to my children, the lessons are the same and are applicable to everyday life. For instance, Alice in Wonderland was written in 1865 and the Alice in Wonderland quotes from this classic novel still apply to life today. Things around us have changed drastically but people essentially stay the same.

Lewis Carroll, who we know as the writer of Alice is Wonderland was actually Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. Dodgson was a teacher who lectured at Oxford for 26 years and a church deacon. On one summer’s day of July in 1862 he took the three Liddell sisters (daughters of Dean Liddell) on a delightful little boating trip. He began to fabricate stories to entertain the three Liddell sisters. When he told the story of Alice and a white rabbit to the three sisters, Alice Liddell begged him to write it down. He did, using Alice as the main character and influence of the timeless classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, now over a hundred years later we are still enjoying the book and all the life lessons that it teaches us.

As a matter of fact a lot of the conversations that take place at the tea party can be used in everyday life. The Alice in Wonderland quote, “You should learn not to make personal remarks,” Alice Said with some severity; “it’s very rude”. Can be taken as just plain good manners back in the 1800’s and still applies today. Another great conversation is at the tea party when the hare tells Alice she should say what she means. As Alice tries to argue that she does say what she means the Hatter says “Not the same thing a bit!’ ‘You might just as well say that ‘I see what I eat’ is the same thing as ‘I eat what I see’!” This makes me think, people should take a few minutes and say exactly what they mean and mean what they say.

There are many more quotes from Alice in Wonderland that we hear and use everyday and never really give much thought as to where they came from. “101 Famous Quotes from Alice in Wonderland uses over a hundred different quotes from Carroll’s classic book that is useful in our everyday lives.
